A solid fourteen carat yellow gold, two-piece, hand made lighter. A superb quality hand made lighter that is very rudimentary in its construction, but beautiful to have in the hand. It is very much like a lipstick in its design. Lighters like this were made to fit discreetly in a lady's handbag. It is a two piece construction with no hinge on the lid, meaning it simply pulls off to reveal the flint wheel and the wick. It is a simple to use, and easy to maintain. The flint and wick portion pull out from the top of the body and reveals the screw for the flint wheel and the wool wadding for the lighter fluid. Both flints and fluid are readily available today, meaning it can be continued to be used, an enjoyed.
The body and lid are made in solid gold, so it has a nice weight to the lighter. There are a series of fine lines running vertically through the body that produces a matte texture to the lighter. Throughout this patten are a number of engraved dashes that are finished in a high polish producing a handsome contrast to the engraved lines. The top and bottom are finished with a high polish. Not only does this engraving finish off the lighter beautifully, it also helps to add a little more purchase in the hands, making it less slippery.
The base of the lighter has a stamp for "14k". It is a very thick gauge of gold, partly why it is likely to have survived in such wonderful condition. it is very much a piece that will a convenient and a discreet accessory for any bag.
